A major progress on the chemical synthesis of Daptomycin Dec 17,2004   We are pleased to announce that our Chief Technology Officer, Dr Xu Hongyan and his team of researchers have successfully completed the first chemical synthesis of Daptomycin. Daptomcyin has been previously obtained through extraction from by-products during fermentation process. Daptomycin, a cyclic lipopeptide is widely considered a new and powerful antibiotic for clinical use. FDA has also expedited the approval process for its public use during end of 2003. And it is first time ever such peptide has been synthesized chemically and with this success it has given a new meaning for the use of this peptide from scientific viewpoint and commercial standpoint. R&D Funding From China Government: Dec 10, 2004 WE, GL Biochem (Shanghai) Ltd is pleased to announce that we have been awarded RMB 900,000 yuan under the China Government's Innovation Fund for SME Technology Firm on 10th December 2004.
