Shanghai International Convention Center , having another name as Oriental Riverside Hotel, is the first and the only hotel categorized as 5-star Convention Hotel in Pudong. Shanghai

Lying in the east coast of China is the oriental metropolitan city-Shanghai. With a registered permanent residence of around 13 millions and a total area of more than 6,000sq.km, Shanghai is historically one of the most important port and industrial centers in China . Since China ¨s reform and open policy, dramatic changes have taken place in Shanghai . It is now at full swing to build itself into one of the centers for economy, culture, education, science & technology, finance & trade in the world. We are sure that you will enjoy your stay here by finding Shanghai a splendid and stimulating city.

 

Language

The official language for the Symposium will be English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

 

Entry into China

Participants are required to have both a valid passport and a visa to enter China . You are advised to determine your own requirements. The visa can be obtained at a local or nearby Diplomatic Mission of the People¨s Republic of China . For further information, please consult the above-mentioned Chinese Diplomatic Mission in your country.

 

Invitation

Upon request, the Symposium Chair will be happy to forward a personal invitation and an official form for visa application. It should be understood that the invitation does not imply any financial or other obligation on the part of the organizers of 9th CPS. Please address your request to Prof. Hongyan Xu. Insurance

Participants are advised to arrange whatever insurance they consider necessary. No responsibility can be assumed by the organizers of the 9th CPS for personal accidents, injury, sickness, theft or property damage suffered by participants during the symposium or any affiliated events.

 

Climate

In July, the temperatures in Shanghai are usually in the range of 25-32oC. The Symposium site, hotels, taxis, shuttle buses, most of shops and restaurants are well air-conditioned. Occasionally light rain should be expected.

 

Currency

The Renminbi Yuan is the only legal tender in China . Foreign currency exchange is available at the airport, Bank of China and Hotels . 

 

Business Hours

Government and business offices are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm., Monday to Friday. Department stores in Shanghai are open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm (7 days a week). 

 

Electricity

220 Volts 50 Hz throughout the country. 

 

Access to Shanghai International Convention Center

The Organizing Committee will arrange shuttle buses to pick up participants whole day on July 3 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport . Please kindly inform Ms. Zhu Qi of your arrival time and flight number via E-mail or Fax as soon as you have fixed your travel schedule.
